How Blessed You Are!

GOD PAUSE: It's so good to spend this minute with you right now! I pray you are doing well. In my trek of reading through the Bible, I just read about how God is the great I AM whose years never age Him. And how blessed we are to see the very face of God in the life of His Son, Jesus! And then, to top it all off, you and I have the angels of the Lord whose role is to be “spirit-messengers sent by God to serve those who are going to be saved” (Hebrews 1:14). What special people we are! Dear Papa, our words fail to fully thank You for how blessed we are! We are so grateful to see how much you love us through the eyes of Jesus. And we go through our day, knowing your angels watch over and take

Pray and Faith

GOD PAUSE: “Good Morning!” to you, my friend. I pray you'll have a wonderful day filled with God's good things. Just a few minutes ago, I was reading the tiny book of Philemon when I found a very neat picture of how prayer and faith work. Paul says in verse 22 “And would you do one more thing for me? Since I'm hoping through your prayers to be restored to you soon, please prepare a guest room for me.” Here's the bottom line. What Paul was praying for, he acted as though it would happen. What he was believing God to do for him caused him to act in line with it. Lord, may our prayers be backed by our actions of faith. What we pray about, we walk as though it's going to happen. Amen.

Dealing with the Madness

GOD PAUSE: God knows I'm trying to find the place where I'm informed about world events and yet not driven to the point of anxiety. I was just reading this morning in Proverbs 26:18,19 which says “Just as dangerous as a madman shooting a deadly weapon is someone who lies to a friend and then says 'I was only joking.” Dear Lord, my heart aches for the chaos and madness I see in my world and nation. I pray that somehow, it can change. So I turn to You who can do just that. A miracle is so needed. And then help me, Lord, to watch my words. Forgive me for the times when they are not truthful and honest. When they damage and bring division. Help me be the solution and not the problem. Amen.

Your Prayers Make the Difference!

GOD PAUSE: I want you to know that your prayers really do matter. I just read this morning in Psalm 99:6 that “God has his praying priests, like Moses, Aaron, and Samuel, who all interceded, asking God for help. God heard their cries and came to their rescue.” There is a reason why God singles out these three men when He mentions praying. Moses prayed and a nation was spared often from God's judgment. Aaron prayed and the people were blessed by God. Samuel prayed for a national leader resulting in things not getting worse. Dear Lord, more than anything, may we be a people who pray. May we see and be encouraged by the connection between us praying and things changing. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Mighty Warrior!

GOD PAUSE: Hear the word of the Lord! My Son is coming back. Time is short. You must always be a ready messenger to share the Good News with those around you. Many around you are turning away from the truth. But you must be different. Be the strong warrior that the times require. Your strength lies in Your intimate connection with me. You must keep your head in all situations. And being a constant evangelist, speaking out the truth that sets people free, must always be your passion. Stay the course. Your path is certain and your finish is as well. A victor's crown awaits you. You win! (based on 2 Timothy 4:1-8)

Good Company

GOD PAUSE: A very BIG “Good Morning!” to you, my dear friend. For our minute together right now, I want to encourage you about something that will help you more than just about anything else in life. It will make you strong. It will give hope that you need for life. Bottom line, it will bless and encourage you so very much. Here it is --- 2 Timothy 2:22 reminds us to “Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.” My friend, there is power for living when you pray with others who love the Lord. Praying together does something so deep in your heart. Dear Papa, may my friend and I seek out others to pray for and to pray with. A community of faith is what we need to do

Getting Better All the Time!

GOD PAUSE: The Bible declares “as your days, so may your strength be!” Don't buy into the lie of the enemy that your best days are past. Or that you will somehow become less effective or needed as you get older. Hear and believe the words of Psalm 92:10 that says “Your anointing has made me strong and mighty. You've empowered my life for triumph by pouring fresh oil over me.” You, my friend, are a planting of the Lord. You've been transplanted in God's heavenly courts. And even in your old age, you will flourish and bear fruit.. Yes even in your old age, you will have plenty of anointing oil in your life! Be blessed today as you live out God's promise of strength, victory and anointing!

Angels Among Us!

GOD PAUSE: I was reading this morning in Psalm 90:11 that says “God sends his angels with special orders to protect you wherever you go, defending you from all harm.” I was reminded of a very good friend who was a strong prayer warrior. He went out in the woods one day and knelt down beside a large to pray. He told God that he wanted to see an angel. All of a sudden, something touched him on the shoulder and he froze. He was really afraid to turn and look, but when he did, it was simply a branch that was touching his shoulder. I want you to know today that God sends His angels ahead of you and all around you to protect you in your life. Even if you don't or can't see them, they are there. Be

Getting Out of the Pits!

GOD PAUSE: There are times that even the best of us gets in “the pits.” I was just reading what happened to the prophet Jeremiah. Because he spoke and stood for the truth, he was literally thrown into a mud pit or cistern and left to die. But a man named Ebed-melech let down a homemade rope harness and pulled him out. So here's the bottom line for you, my friend. Not matter why or how deep you are in “the pits”, the Lord will send you someone to pull you out. God will show up in some way --- usually through one of his sons or daughters --- to give you the support, encouragement or help that you need. Your rescue is on the way. You won't be in that pit much longer.

God's Word is Indestructible!

GOD PAUSE: This morning, I was reading about a king who did not believe the warning or word of the Lord that was given to him. And because he didn't believe it, he took action to try to destroy it. The king took out his knife and cut up the words of God and threw them into his fireplace. Ah, but the word of the Lord will stand forever. So God told the prophet Jeremiah “Take another scroll and write on it all the words that were on the first scroll, which Jehoiakim, king of Judah, burned up” (Jeremiah 36:28). Dear Lord, your word will stand the test of time. And the rejection or disbelief of foolish people. May I and my friend always put our faith and trust in it. And build our lives upon it.

Is My Name Written There?

GOD PAUSE: I was just reading in my quiet time how the city of Jerusalem is God's favorite place on earth. Then God talks about how happy the people are who say they are born there. Psalm 87:6 says “And when He counts her citizens, recording them in His registry, He will write by their names 'This one was born again here!' I couldn't help but remember that in the book of Revelation, there is the Lamb's Book of Life. And names are written there of people who have received God's gracious gift of eternal life. Dear Lord, we know that you have a divine registry of the citizens of heaven. What joy fills our hearts, knowing our names are in it! And may we share your Good News so that others will b

God IS Your Future!

GOD PAUSE: “Good Morning!” to you, my dear friend. Before I read today's Bible verse to you, I want you to know that God can turn things around for you. How it is right now can change. Current circumstances can be a thing of the past. Bottom line is that your future is good because God is in the picture. And He alone gives you hope to believe that. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Dear Papa, hope rises up in our hearts today. It's a hope that things are going to change. And that hope gives us the patience to be content until it happens. Our future is bright and good b

You'll Go Through Your Valley!

GOD PAUSE: You and I are on a pilgrimage, a journey, whose destiny will take us to our home where we're meant to be. And sometimes on our journey, we will have seasons of dryness. Times when hope wanes or disappears. Feelings of being cut off from God even. In the Bible, David calls it the “valley of baca” or tears. Oh, but I have Good News! Psalm 84:6 says “Even when their paths wind through the dark valley of tears, they dig deep to find a pleasant pool where others find only pain.” Dear Papa, even in the valley, you will give us a brook of blessing. You will fill us with the rain of an outpouring. We will grow stronger and stronger with each step forward. And we will come out the other si

God's Blessing on You!

GOD PAUSE: A very BIG “Good Morning!” to you! In just a minute, I want to pray and release God's blessing over your day. And I also want you to pray for me. I'll be out of town for a few days so my GOD PAUSE messages won't resume until probably Sunday morning. And I appreciate your prayers as I have a Celebration of Life service later this morning. Pray for people to begin their journey with the Lord as he comforts their hearts. Out of the book of Numbers, I pray over you “The LORD bless you and keep you. The LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Amen and amen.

God's Dramatic Change!

GOD PAUSE: This morning, God reminded me of my college dorm friend, Ephraim Zeray. Doing some research, I think he passed away a few years ago. But anyways, Ephraim was an Ethiopian. We would laugh as he put his very black arm next to my very white one. God reminded me about him when I read Jeremiah 13:23 that says “Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Neither can you do good who are accustomed to doing evil.” Dear Lord, only you can radically change the course of a life. Only you can dramatically change a person's behavior and character. Thanks for doing that in me and my friend. Amen.

Direct My Steps, Lord!

GOD PAUSE: This morning I was thinking about how life just doesn't make sense without God in it. From the creation of Adam when God breathed His life into him, you and I need God's presence and help. Jeremiah 10:23 reminds us that we really don't control things like we think we do. And even our steps throughout our day are hard to manage. Bottom life is this --- you and I need to trust God to help us do life. There is the reality of simply putting our lives in His hands and then walking with Him step by step. Lord, I need you in order to do life today. It's not a church or religious thing. It's much more personal than that. I've tried to run things myself too much. Please direct my steps as

Properly Dressed

GOD PAUSE: A very BIG “Good Morning!” to you, my friend! Before you head out the door today, I want to give you some very good advice --- make sure you are properly dressed! Now I know that may seem like a “no brainer” but here's what I'm talking about. The Bible says in Colossians 3:12,13 “Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgives you.” Dear Lord, help me and my friend to leave out the door this morning with the right clothing. And being properly dressed can help others see the difference you make in our lives. Amen.

Take the Well Worn Path

GOD PAUSE: There is a famous poem that talks about the choice of taking the road less traveled. And the wisdom of doing that. But while I was reading my Bible this morning, God reminded me about the wisdom of doing the opposite. Jeremiah 6:16 says “The LORD says to the people 'Stand at the crossroads and consider the ancient path, for it is good and it leads to Me. Walk on this path, and you will find rest for your souls.' But they have said 'We will not walk upon this road.” Dear Lord, life is determined by the choices we make. So I choose today to walk in the well-worn path of your words. Choosing that path leads us to knowing you. And that is truly good. Amen and amen.

God Will Make a Way!

GOD PAUSE: Remember the children of Israel in the Bible? They were in what we would call between a rock and a hard place. The enemy was on their tail and the Red Sea stood in their way of escape. But God made a way, right? Psalm 77:19 says “God's way of escape was through the sea --- and His paths through the great waters. And His footprints were not traceable.” God wants you to know that even in the spot you're in right now, He will come to you and make a way of victory. And even the enemy cannot follow to get to you again. Dear Lord, thank you for making the way of victory ahead. And not looking back. Amen and amen.

It Never Get Old!

GOD PAUSE: I was thinking this morning about how so many things you and I have or experience, that ultimately die or loose their luster and attraction. Now, that doe not discourage me. But it is reality. Then I am reminded about the Gospel. What Jesus is all about. I read in Colossians 1:5 “Your faith and love rise within you as your access all the treasures of your inheritance stored up in the heavenly realm. For the revelation of the true gospel is as real today as the day you first heard of our glorious hope.” Oh dear Papa, we thank you for the gospel that never fades. It never looses its power. Its hope always rejoices our hearts. The light of your glorious gospel ever increases in our l
