Your Inner Circle

GOD PAUSE: You and I live in a world of social media and it's really hard to image a world without it. And our friend's list is ever increasing. To be honest, some of of my friends I've never met in person and probably never will. I was just reading this morning in Psalm 101:6 where David says “My innermost circle will only be those whom I know are pure and godly. They will be the only ones I allow to minister to me.” Here's the bottom line --- we all have an inner circle of friends. Those closest to us. And you and I need to be very selective about who we allow in there. Dear Papa, help me and my friend to choose our close friends wisely. We are a composite of who they are. And we thank you

My Safe Place

GOD PAUSE: Sometimes I will be awakened out of a very good sleep. Not that I'm worried or thinking about life's stuff. But I do believe at times it's God's way of wanting to say something to me. So about 2:00 this morning, I came across Psalm 62:2 that says “God alone is my safe place; his wrap-around presence always protects me. For he is my champion defender; there’s no risk of failure with God. So why would I let worry paralyze me, even when troubles multiply around me?” Maybe it's just something you need to hear or share. Dear Papa, thank You for being so personal and caring to speak to our hearts --- at any time and many different ways. And we are so grateful that You are our safe place

He Really Does Understand

GOD PAUSE: I suppose --- like me --- you have a favorite book of the Bible, right? Mine would be the Psalms. But I also love the unfiltered wisdom of the book of Proverbs. So much wisdom packed in a small section of the Bible. I was just reading Proverbs 14:10 that says “Don't expect anyone else to fully understand both the bitterness and the joys of all you experience in your life.” Now that's a pretty sobering thought. No human can fully know what your heart is experiencing. But here's the deal --- God does. He knows. He understands. And He is there to help you. Dear Lord you know it all. My pain. My anger. My bitterness. My grieving. My confusion. So my friend and I welcome Your Presence

A Beautiful Life!

GOD PAUSE: During our church service tomorrow, we'll be having a water baptism. Several people will be demonstrating the new life God has given them. And the old life that is dead and gone. A thing of the past. Baptism declares “What a beautiful life has now begun!” David talks about it in Psalm 15:7, 8 when he says “I will bless the Eternal whose wise teaching orchestrates my days and centers my mind. He is ever present with me. At all times He goes before me. I will not live in fear or abandon my calling because He stands at my right hand.” Dear Papa, what a wonderful and beautiful life my friend and I have with You beside us. We live by the beat of a different drum. And it only gets bette

He is Still on the Throne!

GOD PAUSE: I was just thinking this morning about the calmness, the restfulness that comes to the heart when we truly know that God is always on the throne. That no matter when things are being shaken all around. When things happen that we do not understand or things kind of blindside us. David reminds you and me in Psalm 11:4 “Yet the Eternal One is never shaken. He is still found in His temple of holiness, reigning as Lord and King over all. He is closely watching everything that happens. And with a glance, His eyes examine every heart. For His heavenly rule will prevail over all.” Dear Papa, we are so glad that you are in control. Not only in our world, but in us, too. Amen and amen.

Oh How He Loves YOU!

GOD PAUSE: Good morning to you, my dear friend. I am about ready to read a Bible verse to you about the Lord that I hope blows you away as much as it did to me when I read. It's in Psalm 145:8. David describes how good God is to him. And I'm sure we can all relate. Here's what it says. “You are kind and tenderhearted to those who don't deserve it. And very patient with people who fail you. Your love is like a flooding river overflowing its banks with kindness.” Oh dear Papa, may your words resonate deep within our hearts right now. As we get this visual of how you love and bless us, may we let it grow our relationship with You even deeper. Amen and amen.

Fresh Anointing for your Life!

GOD PAUSE: Well, it is a crisp cool 43 degrees outside but I still had my Jesus time --- wrapped in a sleeping bag. I know, I'm a little strange, but it's okay. But I just have to share a verse with you that I read from Psalm 92:10. It says “Your anointing has made me strong and mighty. You've empowered my life for triumph by pouring fresh oil over me.” Wow! What a promise, right? The earliest Greek translation of the Hebrew says “In my old age I will still have plenty of anointing oil.” Dear Papa, thank You for your anointing on my and my friend's life today. Your anointing is our strength and victory. And it will make the difference in the world around us, too. Amen and amen.

Famous for His Miracles

GOD PAUSE: Well, it was warm enough this morning for me to have my quiet time outside. I so look forward to those kind of times! I just want to share a verse I read found in Psalm 90:16. David says to the Lord “Let us see Your miracles again, and let the rising generation see the glorious wonders you're famous for.” Oh, I'm so thankful that the day of miracles are not over, aren't you? And I want the next generation to experience them in their own lives. To have their own God-encounters first-hand. Dear Lord, in the name of your Son, Jesus, release Your miracle power everywhere it's needed. In our own lives and in the world around us. Amen and amen.

At Every Turn

GOD PAUSE: While it is true that you nor I can predict the future, we do know that we are in God's hands. The old preacher Dr. B. R. Lakin said that God has him cupped in His hands. No matter the storms raging or the mud the enemy throws at him, Dr. Lakin said God opens His hands and says “You're alright. I'm taking care of you.” And I was just reading a little bit ago in Psalm 1:1 that says “God's blessings follow you and await you at every turn.” Dear Papa, you do hold my friend and me in your loving hands. And our future too. And we know that your blessings are ahead each step of the journey. Amen and amen.

This Walk of Faith

GOD PAUSE: A very BIG “Happy Easter Sunday!” to you, my friend! And because He is risen, He invites you on an exciting adventure of walking by faith, letting Him lead you. A Bible verse found in Hebrews 11:8 says “Faith motivated Abraham to obey God's call and leave the familiar to discover the territory he was destined to inherit from God. So he left with only a promise and without even knowing ahead of time where he was going. Abraham stepped out in faith.” Dear Papa, I and my friend want to walk by faith --- with You. May we hold fast to your promises and leave the comfort zone to experience the new territory You have for us. Amen and amen.

Standing on the Promises

GOD PAUSE: Well, I know it will date me but a verse from a hymn has been resonating in my heart. “Standing on the promises that cannot fail, when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail. By the living Word of God I shall prevail, standing on the the promises of God.” Joshua 21: 45 says that “Not a single one of all the good promises that He had made to the house of Israel went unfulfilled. All of them came to pass.” Dear Papa, You are always good to keep Your word to me and my friend. Your promises are backed by all of Your power that makes them happen. So by faith, we believe them and we act upon them. Amen and amen.

Your Dream

GOD PAUSE: You are about to step out --- and may have already --- on a brand new day, packed full of God's goodness. For just a minute, I want to encourage you about your dream. I know that you have one. We all do. And the dream is something that God has put in your heart. It brings such excitement and passion when you think about it. Please know this --- God will bring your dream to pass. It will happen. Proverbs 13:12 says “When hope's dream seems to drag on and on, the delay can be depressing. But when at last your dream comes true, life's sweetness will satisfy your soul.” Dear Papa, I thank you for the dream you put in my and my friend's heart. Sometimes the road to its fulfillment can

Of Blessings & Battles

GOD PAUSE: It's so good to be with you and share this moment together! Just before I read my Bible, I pray for God to just show me His heart. And this morning I was reading in Joshua 17 about the tribe of Joseph not having enough land for their population in the Promised Land. So Joshua told them that they would have to take some of the forest area, cut the trees down and fight the enemy who had iron chariots. And I believe God wanted me to know that life --- certainly full of God's blessings and goodness --- will also involve fighting some battles, pushing back some enemies, and frankly facing some unpleasant circumstances. But God does promise the victories and His presence to be with us.

Making the Impossible Possible!

GOD PAUSE: You know, we both face situations or circumstances that seem impossible, don't we? I just want you to think about that word “impossible” for just a minute. What does that word imply? Never changing? Out of the question? Not able to happen or exist? Now what seems that way in your life right now? Let's just soak in the Jesus' words found in Luke 18:27 where he says “What appears humanly impossible is more than possible with God. For God can do what man cannot.” In other words, just take that word “impossible” and put a capital “H” in front it, so it reads “Himpossible.” Dear Lord, there no impossibilities with You. When you are in the mix of the situation, everything changes. So Lo

What Power in God!

GOD PAUSE: Well, you and I are blessed by the good LORD to live another day! I want to share a Bible verse with you right now found in Psalm81:10. God says “I am your only God, the living God. Wasn’t I the one who broke the strongholds over you and raised you up out of bondage? Open your mouth with a mighty decree; I will fulfill it now, you’ll see! The words that you speak, so shall it be!” Now, doesn't that promise from God just blow you away? I call that some shouting territory! Dear Papa, You have rescued us. You have broken the strongholds over our lives. And You have given us the privilege of speaking Your words over our lives! May my friend and I walk in all of it today. Amen and ame

Complete & Total Victory!

GOD PAUSE: As you get ready to head out and journey through today, I just want to remind you that the Lord loves You and that He so looks forward to giving you victory in your life. Joshua 10:24,25 says “Joshua said to those who had led the warriors 'Come here. Place your feet upon the necks of these kings. There's nothing to be afraid of here. Be strong and courageous because the LORD will do to all our enemies what He has done to these kings.” So where do you need victory right now in your life? Get ready to receive! Father, I come to You in the mighty name of Jesus. Extend Your powerful hand right now and bring victory --- total victory --- over each and every enemy. The battle is over. T

Your Double-sided Weapon!

GOD PAUSE: The LORD would remind you that He enjoys you. And that He loves to give you victories. His presence in your life already guarantees that you will triumph in any situation or circumstance. The LORD will even wake you up during the night with a song of praise deep in your heart. Your shouts of praise are more than just words of excitement on your lips. They are your weapons of war! Your praise is like a two-edged sword. It will bring healing and wholeness in your life and also put the enemy to flight. He becomes immobilized like with chains and iron shackles that he cannot break. His doom is decreed by your praise-filled life. This is an honor given to you because the LORD loves you

Gethsemane's Battle & Victory!

GOD PAUSE: Part of my time with the Lord this morning was reading about Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, which means “olive press.” Jesus was being pressed to the max that fateful day. But he won the victory for you and for me. My favorite scene in “”The Passion” was when Jesus stood up and crushed the head of the snake, the devil. Matthew 26:39 tells us that “Jesus walked a little farther and finally fell prostrate and prayed 'Father, this is the last thing I want. If there is any way, please take this bitter cup from Me. Not my will, but yours be done.” Dear Jesus, we are so very grateful that You won that day in Gethsemane. And it's because of your total surrender to your Father's will.

When God Does the Fighting

GOD PAUSE: At breakfast this morning, a friend reminded me that when I listen to the Lord, He will then fight for me and defeat my enemies. He was referring to Psalm 81:13, 14 where the Lord says to you and me “O that my people would once and for all listen to Me and walk faithfully in My footsteps, following My ways. Then and only then will I conquer your every foe and tell every one of them, 'You must go!” So what is the big enemy we are facing right now? I mean the one that's standing right in the way? God promises to do the fighting --- if we listen to Him. Dear Lord, You alone have the strategy for victory. Help me and my friend to listen with our hearts --- and then walk in Your ways.

Fleeting Opportunity

GOD PAUSE: This morning, I was reading about a woman who wasn't going to miss her opportunity to do something for Jesus. Even though the disciples were furious about it, Jesus says in Matthew 26:11, 12 “It is good that you are concerned about the poor, but the poor will always be with you. I will not be. In pouring this ointment on My body, she has prepared Me for My burial.” Her costly ointment could have been sold to feed a lot of needy, hungry people. But she did the right thing. She seized her moment to do the bigger thing with it. And Jesus said her spontaneous act of worship would be forever remembered. Dear Papa, my friend and I want to live like that --- to grab each opportunity to d
