Rescue the Perishing!

GOD PAUSE: Imagine (and some believe there is) there is a cure for cancer. Yet for whatever reason, the cure is not put to use to bring health and healing to those who so desperately need it. What a tragedy that would be, right? And yet a greater tragedy is that people all around us are lost without God. Without hope. And heading into a Christless eternity. So God tells you and me “Go and rescue the perishing! Be their savior. Why would you stand back and watch them stagger to their death?” (Proverbs 24:11). Dear heavenly Father, may I and my friend lift up our eyes and see those around us as you do. Lead us to the strays today, O God. Keep us on the mission of rescuing the perishing. And ca

Living a Legacy!

GOD PAUSE: Have you given thought to the fact that you are right now building a legacy? Usually when we think of a legacy, our minds go to the money or property we leave in a will. But more than leaving a legacy, think about living one. Think about what the Lord says in Isaiah 59:21. “My Spirit, which rests on and moves in you, and My words, which I have placed within you, will continue to be spoken among you and move you to action. And not only you, but so it will be for your children and their children too. And so on through the generations for all time.” Heavenly Father, help me and my friend stay focused on living a legacy. Not just leaving one. Amen and amen.

Weakness & Neediness

GOD PAUSE To some, it might seem to be wrong or a lack of faith to admit or say that you are weak or needy in some way. But in the Bible, David kind of gives the impression that being weak and in need are great requirements for God to show up and do His thing. He says in Psalm 70:5 “Lord, in my place of weakness and need, won't you turn your heart toward me and hurry to help me? For you are my Savior and I'm always in your thoughts. So don't delay to deliver me now, for your are my God.” Dear Papa, I am weak and I am in need today. So I come to You to get the well-timed help that can only come from You. Amen and amen.

Your Heart Desires More!

GOD PAUSE My precious, precious child. I know your heart. And I hear its cry. You are thirsty and hungry to experience more of Me. There is a holy dissatisfaction deep inside. You know there is more. And yet you wish there was a book or some type of instruction manual to get you there. But there is a path. Have I not said “The source of revelation-knowledge is found as you fall down in surrender before Me. Don't expect to see the shekinah glory until I see your sincere humility” (Proverbs 15:33). The path to more of Me is the path of surrender and humility. The closer you are to those twins, the closer you are to Me. And the more you will come to know. Be blessed as you do.

You Will "Bump" into Someone Today!

GOD PAUSE Today --- like any other day --- you will “bump” into people. Situations will happen in which you come into contact with someone that on the surface seems accidental or just a coincidence. But it is not. God is directing your steps as you move your feet. Inside you is the presence and the words of God. Like the prophet Isaiah, you need to say “The LORD has equipped for this job, with skilled speech, a smooth tongue for instruction. I can find the words that comfort and soothe the downtrodden, tired, and despairing. And I know when to use them.” (Isaiah 50:4), Dear Papa, guide my and my friend's steps throughout today. Help us to be wise and ready to speak your words of life to some

I Will Always Carry You!

GOD PAUSE I, the Lord, want you to know that there is a place of quiet restfulness in Me. A safe, secure place of trust and peace --- no matter the circumstances or situation swirling about you. Or the uncertainty ahead of you. “It is you, not I, who have been carried from before you were born. Indeed, when you were still in the womb, I was taking care of you. And when you are old, I will still be there, carrying you. When your limbs grow tired, your eyes are weak, and your hair is silvery gray, I will carry you as I always have. I will carry you and save you” (Isaiah 46:3, 4). Dear Papa, your track record of taking care of us is impeccable. And it will never change. Amen and amen.

Be a Builder!

GOD PAUSE This morning, God took my mind to remember a very dear friend, Pastor Curtis Brown, who often read the poem called “The Builder.” The crux of it is that I am either tearing down or building in my life and actions. It ends with the words “Am I one who is tearing down as I carelessly make my way around? Or am I one who builds with care in hopes that my friends will be glad I was there?” Let's remember God's words found in Proverbs 24:3 that says “Wise people are builders --- they build families, businesses, communities. And through their intelligence and insight their enterprises are established and endure.” May it be so in your life --- in Jesus' mighty name!

The Cure for Racial Division

GOD PAUSE I, the Lord God, have created only one race --- the human race. All are made in My image. And every one matters to Me. All lives matter to Me. And I am no respecter of persons. My heart is that my creation would love each other as I do. But that cannot happen without the blood of My Son breaking down the walls of separation. Have I not said “Your reconciling peace is Jesus! By dying as our sacrifice, He has broken down every wall of prejudice that separated us and has now made us equal through our union with Christ. Ethnic hatred has been dissolved by the crucifixion of His precious body on the cross” (Ephesians 2:14, 15a). Under His blood, you are are equal.

You've Been Adopted!

GOD PAUSE I take great delight in you, my precious one. It was always in my perfect plan to adopt you. Your connection and relationship to my Son, Jesus, made it all happen. His love cascades over you, showing off his marvelous grace. I want you to know that I love you just as much as I love my precious Son. It's actually the exact same love. Rejoice because your sins have been canceled out. All of them. Yes, enjoy the cascading riches of my grace into your life. You see, you are a part of my continuously unfolding plan. And it brings me great pleasure that you are. From the very beginning of time, the mystery of my plan was formed. And now you are its fulfillment. Oh, how I rejoice in you,

May Fear Drive Me to God

GOD PAUSE During my quiet time this morning, I read the story of man --- a powerful king actually --- who was facing a seemingly insurmountable problem. The problem came out of the blue. And it put a choke hold on his life. He was terribly distressed, terribly upset. Fear griped his heart. He even sent for the preacher man, imploring him to pray for him. His thought was “maybe the Lord will notice” what is going on and help. But this king did one more thing. He took the threatening letter to God. Isaiah 37:14, 15 says “When Hezekiah got the written message, he read it. Then he took it to the temple, spread it out before the Eternal One, and began to pray.” Dear Papa, even though we get afrai

Destiny is Daily

GOD PAUSE God wants you to know that his destiny, his plan for your life is not something way down the road. It is daily. It is even in the next step that you take today. Don't think of your destiny as future. Think of it as present. Right now. The Lords says to you and me in Proverbs 20:24 “It is the Lord who directs your life, for each step you take is ordained by God to bring you closer to your destiny.” So your activities today are part of God's destiny for you. It all fits into his beautiful pattern called “you.” Dear Papa, You help me and my friend realize that you are directing our steps as we move our feet today. Our destiny is daily. And you are moving us closer and closer to it. Am

Thirsty for God

GOD PAUSE I am the LORD, your God, and your relationship with me is uniquely yours. Your connection with me is different than any other. So don't compare your life and journey with me with that of someone else. I see your deep thirst for more. I will energize you every time you enter My Presence. You will be able to drink in more and more of My glory. The anointing of My Presence will satisfy you like nothing else can. I have prepared a rich banquet of pleasure for your soul. As you feel my grip on your life, your soul will experience the joy being close to My heart. I am the LORD, your God. Enjoy my tender mercies. Let them mean more to you than life itself. (based on Psalm 63)

Seeking Good Advice

GOD PAUSE During our time together right now, I want to just share something about the importance of community. God as created you and me to live, to do life, in community. We are made to need others. And when it comes to advice, I want you to listen to what God says in Proverbs 20:18. “If you solicit good advice, then your plans will succeed. So don't charge into battle without wisdom, for wars are won by skilled strategy.” My friend, surround yourself with people who will give you good, sound advice when you need it. Dear Lord, help us to live in community as you have intended us to do. And thanks for those we can go to for much needed wisdom and advice. Amen and amen.

You Are Very Wealthy!

GOD PAUSE Did you know that you are a very wealthy person? Well, I am too. Now I'm not talking about how much we have in a bank account somewhere. Actually I'm not even talking about physical possessions or property. I am, however, talking about wealth that God mentions in Proverbs 20:15. Here's what it says --- “You may have an abundance of wealth, piles of gold and jewels, but there is something of far greater worth --- speaking revelation words of knowledge.” Heavenly Father, my friend and I are so thankful for Your words of life and blessing found in our Bibles. We carry its wealth inside us as we go through life. So may we share those riches with those around us. Every day. Even today.

Your Lips, God's Lips

GOD PAUSE You and I both know the power and weight of hurtful and negative words. We have been on the receiving end of them, probably way too often. And to be honest, we have used them ourselves. But I want you to hear the words of God found in Proverbs 23:16 where He says “And when you speak anointed words, we are speaking mouth to mouth.” Now just get this picture. When you and I speak the words of God to others, it is God actually speaking to them. God is saying “Your lips will speak with My lips!” So dear Papa, help me and my friend to speak Your words of life, healing, encouragement and blessing today. Every day. In Jesus' might name. Amen and amen.

Oh, the Greatness of His Grace!

GOD PAUSE I just love the story of the apostle Paul. He was certainly a maverick, so unique in every way. From his unbelievable encounter with Jesus, his special God-training that equipped him, and his miracle-packed ministry. The theme all through his life seems to be the grace of God. Paul knew everyone was a trophy of God's rescuing grace. As grace receivers, we are to be grace givers to others. Just this morning I read in Galatians 2:14 “So when I realized they were acting inconsistently with the revelation of grace, I confronted Peter in front of everyone.” Dear Papa, my friend and I are humble recipients of Your grace. So now may we be dispensers of it to others. Let us live as childre

The Seed

GOD PAUSE For our minute together right now, I want to share a little bit about one the Bible's greatest principles --- that of the seed. Sometimes it's called sowing and reaping. Or planting and harvesting. Solomon says in Proverbs 20:4 “If you're too lazy to plant seed, it's too bad when you have no harvest on which to feed.” You see, God always works through the principle of a seed. You work hard now in order to reap great benefits later. You diligently do the hard stuff now to enjoy the good stuff later. Your harvest time is coming --- so long as you do the seed-planting now in your life. Heavenly Father, help me and my friend do the planting now. The preparation work will eventually bri

Return to Me!

GOD PAUSE My heart breaks from what I see in the world. I took a big risk when I gave my creation free will. A will to follow My ways or to go their own way. And when I am not in the picture, when I am not center in the life, things go sideways quickly. The problems around you are caused by Me not being where I belong. The violence. The disrespect for one another. Yes, even the pain, the loneliness and the heartache are not from my hand. Things have gone off track. “Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Return to Me, and I shall return to you.” (Zechariah 1:3). The move is yours to make. In your returning back to Me and My words, you will find things beginning to change in the world around you.

My Child, I Am Still There

GOD PAUSE I have put the story of My servant, Job, in the Book for many reasons. He went through a very rough season in his life. In his own words He said 'Look, I go forward but God is not there. And backward but I cannot perceive Him. When He works on the left hand, I cannot behold Him. When He turns to the right hand, I cannot see Him.” But even though Job could not see Me, he knew I was there. In the process of his pain, his loneliness and his confusion, Job trusted that My hand was upon him and that he would come forth as refined gold. So, My dear precious one, trust Me. I am there. In all circumstances. At all times. Even right now.

God's Garden, God's Spring

GOD PAUSE My precious child. Hear these words spoken from My heart. “I am the Eternal One who will never leave you. I will lead you in the way that you should go. When you feel dried up and worthless, I will nourish you and give you strength. And you will grow like a garden, lovingly tended. You will be like a spring whose water never runs out” (Isaiah 58:11). The times that you spend in my Presence are when you will not only be refreshed, but also filled. Filled with My Presence and My words. Inside you I am making a deep reservoir of living water. And life --- My life --- will spring up everywhere you go when the water pours out of you. So go, my child. Go forth and be the spring people so
