Watching the Leaves Blow

GOD PAUSE: I'm sitting on the back deck as I hear a wind begin to blow. And I'm reading a promise from God to you and me found in Ezekiel 37:5. “This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones 'I will make breath enter you and you will come to life.” I sit here, watching the wind pick up, giving movement to the swaying branches and direction to the dried leaves across the ground. Without the wind or breath of God, there is nothing. No activity. No movement. No life. Oh Lord, we call upon your Spirit to breathe upon us. How desperately we need your life. Yes, the joy of your wind at work. Amen.
